SGM and Oratory: NOTE SPECIAL VENUE
Just a reminder about what's happening this week:
PLEASE NOTE THE SPECIAL VENUE!
Thursday, 6pm, in Clocktower 029, we will be holding the SGM and then the Oratory Competition.
SGM Details:
The SGM will be solely to pass a proposed new Constitution for the Society. Find attached a summary of the new Constitution and how it differs from the old one. Copies of the new Constitution on its own and the current Constitution are available on the front page of our website (www.debating.co.nz) in a post about half way down.
At an SGM any paid up member has speaking AND voting rights and the Constitution must be passed by a majority vote. We are also capable of changing the wording of any proposed clauses at the meeting, without notice.
For those of you who have emailed in with feedback and suggestions, I will be proposing to amend the current draft in line with some of those suggestions at the SGM itself.
Oratory Competition:
After the SGM we will launch into the Oratory Competition, which will feature a visiting judge from the National Business Review, so get excited. Speeches will focus on emotive and compelling delivery and if last year is anything to go by it will be a superb event. Some of the Society's best speakers will be entering so be sure to come along this week and check it out!
Also, don't forget that NEXT Thursday we will be holding the AGM where you get to vote on the Exec for 2009. Be there or be somewhere else! (But preferably be there, because it will be exciting and fun!)
Any questions just flick us an email, otherwise see you then!
