The Development Tournament was held last weekend and was a huge success.
Over 20 debaters competed in four preliminary rounds on topics from 'taxing fast food' to 'exploiting Antarctica'. Everyone debated well and feedback from the adjudicators was that everyone also developed well as speakers over the weekend (hence, 'Developement' Tournament).
The pizza lunch and BYO dinner were equally good times.Ultimately the winning team was 'Team 6', made up of Ashley Ball, Ollie Wilson and Andrew MacDonald.
The adjudicators also announced a 'Tournament Team' made up of the three amatuer debaters we felt performed best over the first day. They were: Ashley Ball, Atif Slim and Anna Fischer.We also awarded two people 'Highly Commended' awards, again based on outstanding debating during the first four rounds, they went to Jesse Hart and Ollie Wilson.
We also awarded 'Best Pro' to Glen Holm-Hansen and 'Best Trainee Adjudicator' to Neeharika Chowdhary.
