Hi everyone,
First up, Opening Night last night was a huge success! A packed out Stone lecture theatre full of members had good times watching the 7th best debating team in the World support Hillary Clinton with the moot 'This house would nominate Barack Obama'. Thanks to Akif and Alex for taking on the brave task of being their opposing team!
For anyone who missed Opening Night (or for anyone who wants to relive some of the awesomeness) I have uploaded the powerpoint slide that we went through in the first part of the evening. Check it out here.
I've also uploaded the cheesy (yet slightly awesome) video that we played right at the beginning (see below).
There was a lot of interest last night in adjudication training and opportunities, we hope to have our plan finalized very soon and will email everyone with details in the next fortnight.
Finally, as promised we are working on a new 'Resources page' that will provide some good information for new debaters. Keep your eye on the menu at the top of the page and hopefully it will be online by the end of the weekend.
Otherwise we look forward to seeing everyone next week for a round of debating (or the 'how to debate' info seminar for those new to how debating works) and the week after that for Easters trials and part two of the 'how to debate seminar'.
