Welcome to the University of Auckland debating Society!
The society meets for debating every Thursday evening at 6pm and social events every Tuesday. Our full calendar for the year can be viewed already, check out the menu on the left. All our events are optional so come along to anyand all that take your interest.
We cater to casual or competitive debaters and offer ample training to those who have never debated before. Also make sure to come along and have a drink and introduce yourself at opening night on the tenth of March.
Opportunities we'll be offering this year include:
- A variety of tournaments; in Auckland, nationally and internationally; for all skill levels and degrees of experience.
- An oratory competition
- A stand-up comedy competition
- A pub quiz
- A bowling night
- Various show debates on topical issues featuring prominent members of the community. Previous debates have featured members of Parliament, television personalities and distinguished alumni.
- And of course, regular Thursday night debating, after which we usually head out for a drink.
